Spa Resort Hawaiians opened on January 15, 1966 as the Joban Hawaiian Center, a project born from the conversion of the Joban coal mining business, and was renamed to its current name in 1990. It is operated by Joban Kosan Co., Ltd., covers roughly 330,000 square meters, comprises six themed park zones operating year-round, and includes four hotels, among them Monolith Tower. Its large open-air bath, "Edo Jowa Yoichi," has a bathing area of about 1,000 square meters and is Guinness World Record-certified as the world's largest open-air bath. Day-visitor parking is free for the first two hours, then 1,000 yen for standard cars and 2,500 yen for large vehicles (2.5m height and above) until midnight, with commercial buses parking free.
