Hakodate Park Kodomo no Kuni is an amusement park within Hakodate Park that opened on May 5, 1956. Its Ferris wheel was built in 1950 and originally stood on the shore of Lake Onuma before being relocated to the current site in 1965; standing 10 meters high with an 8-meter diameter and eight gondolas, it was registered as a National Tangible Cultural Property on December 5, 2019, and is considered Japan's oldest surviving operating Ferris wheel. Admission is free, with rides priced at 350 yen each (an 8-ride booklet costs 2,500 yen, a one-day pass 2,800 yen); the park also has the Apollo 2000 ride and the "Obake no Kuni" haunted house. It closes for winter from mid-November to mid-March.
