Yokohama Hakkeijima Sea Paradise opened on May 8, 1993 and is operated by Yokohama Hakkeijima Co., Ltd. of the Seibu Group. On an artificial island of about 24 hectares, it combines four aquarium facilities, led by the pyramid-shaped Aqua Museum, with the amusement zone "Pleasure Land." The "Surf Coaster Leviathan" is said to be Japan's first roller coaster to run partly over the sea, and the island also has the 90-meter rotating observation tower Sea Paradise Tower.
