In the Edo period the Tōkaidō (about 516 km) took 14 days on foot — 9 even by samurai express horse. By campervan: 5 days, passing all 53 post towns without skipping one. Overnights are at roadside stations we have checked for 24-hour toilets and no “no overnight parking” notices: Seki, Denpark Anjō, Kakegawa and Hakone-tōge.
