Car-camping: where you can sleep
You may rest overnight in the vehicle at roadside stations (道の駅) and expressway service / parking areas (SA / PA) — for resting, not setting up camp. For real camping (tents, open fire) use a designated RV Park or campsite. Japan has excellent public toilets, onsen and bathhouses, so although the campers have no on-board toilet, they do include a water supply and a large-capacity battery.

A 4-day Wakayama & Kumano itinerary
Day 1: pick up at Kansai Airport → Wakayama coast, overnight at Toretore RV Park (Shirahama). Day 2: head south along the Nanki coast → car-camp at a roadside station (道の駅). Day 3: the Kumano area → RV Park Vison (Mie). Day 4: return to Osaka. A relaxed loop around the Kii Peninsula at a realistic distance — with no driving-range limit if you want to venture further.
